What we do

Helping you get money you’re owed…

Our mission is to make access to justice easy for consumers. From our research we know that half of the UK population have little to no awareness of group claims as a route to correcting problems and claiming compensation.

How we make a difference

We want to help spread the word by providing unbiased information and advice directly to you about all of the group claims happening in the UK. We will make it easy for you to get back what you’re owed and hold companies to account when they do things wrong. We want to be the first place you come to find out what you need to know, and join forces with others who are also seeking recompense.

Keeping you in the know

We will keep you updated on the latest developments in group claims, saving you time and hassle so you never miss out and are always in the know. We will connect you to the law firms that are acting on your behalf – at no cost to you.

How we provide a free service

Consumer Voice makes money by providing consumer-friendly communications and engagement services to law firms to help raise awareness of claims. In some cases, we take a fee from legal firms when someone from our community joins a claim.

Why Consumer Voice was created

Consumer Voice was co-founded in early 2023 by Alex Neill and Nikki Stopford who are on a mission to make access to justice easy for consumers. Too many consumers experience problems every day when dealing with businesses in the UK and all too often don’t get back the money they’re owed.

From decades of campaigning for better and stronger consumer rights, Alex and Nikki could see that consumers, and often businesses, are simply not aware of their rights. Setting up Consumer Voice is one way Alex and Nikki believe they can help UK consumers.

Where the problem is obvious to consumers, for instance a delayed flight or a faulty product, there are ways defined in law where you can individually pursue a business to fix the problem. However, this isn’t always as straightforward as it should be – we believe we can help.

What are group claims?

It isn’t always obvious when you’ve been ripped off by the companies you deal with, and it can feel impossible to stand up to big businesses. That’s what they want. And that’s why the law in the UK offers another route to accessing justice via a group claim or collective action.

This is where a legal claim is brought on behalf of a group of people who have all experienced a similar loss as a result of the law being broken. Law firms have to bring these group claims to a court or a tribunal to get compensation for consumers.

These can either be brought by one individual representing others (consumers can ‘opt out’ of these claims if they want to) or by a number of individuals coming together to take the claim as a single group (known as an ‘opt in’ claim).

Meet Alex and Nikki

We co-founded Consumer Voice in January 2023 after working for 25 years on campaigns to raise industry standards for consumers. We know how difficult it can be to take on big companies when things go wrong. We want to change that with Consumer Voice.

We campaigned for ‘opt out’ claims to be introduced and very much support group actions as a way for individuals to take on big business. But we know that most people haven’t got a clue about them! So we set up Consumer Voice to raise awareness and ensure people aren’t missing out on the money they’re owed.

We worked together for over a decade at the UK consumer champion Which?. We have engaged millions of consumers with quality content on a daily basis, and have been responsible for researching and publishing consumer advice that makes a difference.

We know what we’re talking about when it comes to research, engagement, data analytics, policy, publishing, campaigns and communications. We wanted to join forces to help consumers get a better deal. We’re delighted to be doing this with Consumer Voice – and would love your help in spreading the word.

We have first-hand experience in blending consumer action with legal process, and with  building and developing technology platforms and services that provide consumers with access to justice. We were involved in several legal interventions when at Which?. Now, Alex is representing millions of UK consumers in a claim against Sony Playstation.

We want to help you get back money you’re owed whenever a big company breaks the law. For some claims you might only get a small sum back but it all adds up, which is why we want you to join our community and get back what you’re owed every time a big company takes advantage of you.

We’d love to hear from you if you have ideas about how we can make this service better.
